On July 1, Minnick’s, a Laurel, MD-based HVAC and Plumbing contractor, agreed to purchase ecobeco, creating a full service Home Performance company. By bringing energy audits, air sealing, insulation and HVAC solutions under one roof, we hope to improve your customer experience to create more customers for life. Just as ecobeco has won awards from Houzz and Angie’s List for our customer service, Minnick’s is a 2017 Angie’s List Super Service Award winner. ecobeco has worked with Minnicks many times over the years, including the Healthy Home Study that helped improve indoor air quality in the homes of asthmatic children.
Minnick’s is a family-owned business started over 60 years ago by William Minnick, the grandfather of Minnick’s current owners Rob and Rusty Minnick. Steeped in a history of innovation, Minnick’s is the leader in the Mid-Atlantic in utilizing building science to drive decisions for HVAC replacement and design. Minnick’s is also one of the first companies in our area to offer customers a “smart-maintenance” solution that provides electronic monitoring of HVAC systems instead of semi-annual visits.
“Just the perfect fit,” said ecobeco’s Co-Founder and President Brian Toll. “Minnicks has a long tradition of using building science to diagnose and solve customer comfort and energy issues. This philosophy perfectly matches ecobeco’s priorities. ecobeco’s Home Performance Energy Audits and Quick Home Energy Check-ups will enhance the experience for Minnick’s customers.”
“ecobeco’s reputation for quality and technical skill adds a new dimension to Minnick’s whole home approach,” said Rob Minnick, President of Minnick’s. “Brian and Reuven have led the way on integrating indoor air quality into their offerings, which leverages Minnick’s expertise in air filtration and humidity control solutions. Further, our HVAC system design, replacement and maintenance services will help ecobeco’s customers transform their homes from good to great.”
The new leadership team of the combined company, Rob Minnick and Reuven Walder, hold an extensive list of certifications in building science, and leadership roles in trade associations. Rob is on the Board of the Building Performance Institute, Chairs the Home Performance Council of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America, and is former Chair of the Association of Air Conditioning Professions. Rob is a BPI certified Building Analyst, Envelope, AC/HP, Heating Professional, HEP Auditor, and HEP Quality Controller Inspector. Rob is also a BPI trainer and proctor. Reuven Walder is a BPI Certified Building Analyst, Envelope, Healthy Home Evaluator, and HEP Quality Controller Inspector. He is a NEHA-certified Healthy Home Specialist, member of the Montgomery County Environmental Quality Commission, and Treasurer of the Maryland Building Performance Association.
While the ecobeco and Minnick’s brands will continue to operate independently, cross-training has already started. Staff will work to create solutions that take advantage of the full expertise of ecobeco and Minnick’s to create comfortable, healthy, energy efficient homes.
